Research –

Interviews, verbatim and monologues

This was the first project we have done it is based on Identity I was excited and eager to get started. Our first task is to find a partner and interview each other my partner was Shadout and he asked lots of questions, for example, "What is the best moment in your life" and "What is the worst moment in my life." Then we swapped and I was interviewing him. When everyone in the class had finished one person at a time would come up and put headphones on and listen to the recording (the one where you were the interview) but you what have to say what your interviewee is saying. At first, I was a little scared and a little bit nervous because it was the first time I was talking in front of everyone by myself and I did not know everyone that well but it was really fun. These where called verbatim pieces. 

A verbatim piece is a theatre that uses pre-existing documentary material as source material for stories about real events and people, frequently without altering the text in performance. Examples of what you can do Verbatim Theatre on are crime scenes, a political march, Grenfell Tower or prison. For homework, we were asked to do the same thing bit interview a family member. For our monologue, we had to base it on the topic we have been studying "Identity." We had to do it on things like Religion, Ethnicity, Family, Friends, Hobbies, Mental health or Bullying. There are so many topics you could choose from because identity is everything to do with you. But I decided to do my own hobbies because I have so many from dance to music to acting because I am so passionate.    

Planning or development Rehearsals -Performance

Rob told us that our very first performance was going on what we have been studying "Identity" I was so excited to perform as it was my first performance. Only some people were chosen to read their verbatim pieces and I was lucky enough to be picked to do it. I read out Mark's homework for him interviewing his mum. I was also chosen to be a doctor in the play at first I struggled with my lines at first but I eventually got the hang off it eventually. We practiced so much that I knew everybody's line off by heart. A week before Rob asked me to make a dance routine for the piece, with a short amount of time to make the dance then teach it to the other actors would take to long so I decided to use an old routine that I used for my secondary school. So I taught them the dance, but it was a struggled as the style was afro and most of them had never done before. Some people dropped out because they did not feel comfortable doing it. Eventually, 5 other people were still doing it and they learned it as fast as they could. 
Evaluation of performance and project- 
The Evaluation of the performance was very good we got a good reaction from the audience. The other actors did very well, they spoke clearly, they projected there voice and they danced very well. For myself, I was nervous at first but after I started I was enjoying it. I spoke clearly and projection my voice. I have improved in my: focus, eye contact, improvisation, and teamwork. I needed to improve by not dancing in rehearsal out of character and say al my line started to finish with the same power and energy. Overall I think did very well.
